Guide
How many hours of cleaning does my home need?
For one cleaner, a deep clean of a two-bedroom, one-bathroom home in normal condition takes about 4.5 hours. An end of tenancy clean of the same home takes 5.5 hours, because it goes inside every cupboard and the oven. Add time for each extra and for a home that needs more work.

Every home has a fixed part: setting up, the kitchen and the hallways. Then each bedroom and each bathroom adds its own time. The kind of clean decides how much.
| Clean | To start | Each bedroom | Each bathroom |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-off deep clean | 1 hour 30 minutes | 1 hour | 45 minutes |
| End of tenancy | 2 hours | 1 hour 15 minutes | 1 hour |
| After builders | 2 hours 30 minutes | 1 hour 15 minutes | 1 hour |
The times one cleaner needs in a home in normal condition, before extras.
End of tenancy takes longer than a deep clean because it covers the inside of the kitchen cupboards and drawers, and the oven is always included. After builders takes longer again because fine dust has to come off every surface, often more than once.
Two more things change the total:
- How much work the home needs: a light clean, for a home that is kept on top of, takes 15% less time. A heavy clean, for a home that hasn't had a proper clean for a long time, takes 25% more.
- Extras: an oven clean (already part of end of tenancy), inside the fridge, inside windows and ironing each add time.
The total is rounded up to the next half hour and kept between 2 and 8 hours. Two hours is the shortest visit worth travelling for. Eight is a full working day for one cleaner.

A regular clean is shorter, because a home cleaned regularly doesn't build up the same dirt. A fortnightly visit to a two-bedroom, one-bathroom home is 2.5 hours. The frequency guide covers regular cleans.
Booking fewer or more hours
The recommendation is a suggestion. You can book anything from 2 to 8 hours, in half hours, and the price follows the hours you choose.
One cleaner does the whole job and works the hours you booked. If you book fewer hours than we recommend, they won't rush to fit everything in. They start with the rooms you put first, so put your priorities in the booking notes, for example "kitchen and bathroom first, then the bedrooms".
If you book more, the cleaner has time for the jobs that usually get skipped: inside the kitchen cupboards, the tops of doors, behind furniture that can be moved safely.
For a large home, or a heavy clean of a medium one, the recommendation can reach 8 hours, the most one cleaner does in a day. If the home needs more than that, book a second clean on another day for the rooms that are left.
Light, normal or heavy?
- Light (kept tidy, just needs a refresh): cleaned in the last few weeks, tidy surfaces, no build-up in the bathroom or on the hob.
- Normal (lived in, a good going-over): due a proper clean. Some limescale, dusty skirting boards, a kitchen that gets wiped but not scrubbed.
- Heavy (hasn't been cleaned in a while): months since a real clean, grease on the hob and extractor, heavy limescale, or a home left after a long tenancy.
If you are between two, choose the heavier one. Running out of time is more annoying than finishing early.

Two hours. Anything shorter isn't worth the cleaner's travel.
Not at the moment. One cleaner does each booking, for up to 8 hours. For a bigger job, book a second clean on another day.
They work the hours you booked and do the rooms you put first, so anything left over is the lowest on your list. If something they did wasn't done properly, report it from your booking page within 48 hours of the start and ask for a cleaner to come back and put it right, free.
