Weekly, fortnightly or monthly cleaning: which is right for you?

Fortnightly is a good place to start for most homes: it keeps on top of kitchens, bathrooms and floors without the cost of a weekly visit. Choose weekly for a busy family home, pets or a lot of people, and monthly for a small, tidy home. With cleand, weekly visits cost the least per visit and monthly the most.

The three side by side

Each visit is the same length whichever frequency you choose. It is set by the size of your home. What changes is the hourly rate and how many visits a month you get.

Weekly costs the most in a month, because you get the most visits, but the least for each one. Monthly is the reverse.

Which one suits your home

The right frequency depends less on the size of the home than on how fast it gets dirty again.

  • Weekly for families with young children, homes with dogs or cats that shed, shared houses, and anyone working from home every day. The kitchen and floors take the most wear, and a week is about as long as they stay nice.
  • Fortnightly for couples and small families who tidy as they go. Bathrooms and the kitchen get a proper clean before limescale and grease build up, and the week in between is manageable.
  • Monthly for one or two people in a small flat who keep it tidy and want the deeper jobs done regularly: the bathroom descaled, floors mopped properly, dust off the skirting boards.
Starting from a home that needs a lot of work

A regular visit keeps a clean home clean. If the oven, the shower or the grout haven't been done for months, book a one-off deep clean first, then start the regular visits. Otherwise the first few visits are spent catching up.

What a regular visit covers

Each visit covers the rooms in your booking: dusting reachable surfaces, vacuuming and mopping floors, the kitchen worktops, hob, sink and the outside of the appliances and cupboards, the bathroom (toilet, bath, shower, basin, tiles and mirrors), emptying bins and tidying.

An oven clean, inside the fridge, inside windows and ironing are extras. Each one you add makes every visit longer and costs more, so add the ones you want done every time and book a one-off clean for the rest.

How Subscribe and save works

Regular cleans with cleand are a monthly subscription called Subscribe and save. You choose the frequency and a schedule, for example every Monday, the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, or the 15th of each month.

  1. Pay by the month

You pay for the first month when you subscribe. Each month gives you one credit per visit: weekly gives 4 or 5, depending on how many of your chosen weekday fall in that billing month, fortnightly gives 2 and monthly gives 1.

  2. We book the visits

Each credit becomes a booked clean on your schedule, in your chosen arrival window.

  3. Move or skip a visit

Up to 2 hours before it starts, from your subscription page. A skipped visit's credit goes back to your balance and you can book it on another date.

  4. Unused credits roll over

A credit lasts for the month it was paid for and one more month, then expires.

  5. Stop when you like

Cancel at any time. You aren't charged again, and the visits you have already paid for stay booked until their credits expire.

Changing your mind later

Life changes: a new baby, a dog, a lodger, a new job at home. If fortnightly stops being enough, or weekly starts to feel like more than you need, cancel the subscription and start a new one at the frequency that fits. The visits you have already paid for stay booked.

If you are unsure, start fortnightly. It is easier to tell after a month whether you want more or less.
